Sdružení oboru vodovodů a kanalizací ČR, z.s. (SOVAK ČR) is an association of legal and natural persons active in the field of water supply and sewerage for public use. It brings together entities providing supply of water or removal, treatment, or other disposal of wastewater, both in terms of operation and management and in terms of ownership, development, and construction. The regular members of SOVAK ČR supply quality drinking water to over 9 million inhabitants, discharge wastewater for almost 8 million inhabitants and treat over 98 % of this wastewater in the Czech Republic. The mission of SOVAK ČR is to represent its members in negotiations with state authorities in matters of common interest to its members, especially in the field of legislation, technical standardization and the creation of economic rules, as well as to provide activities and services according to the needs and interests of its members, especially of an informational, methodological, advisory and educational nature. SOVAK ČR cooperates with similar organizations in the Czech Republic and abroad, publishes a professional journal, ensures the operation of the association's website with an extended part of information service for members, organizes trade exhibitions, conferences and professional trainings, courses and other educational events. Since 2006, SOVAK ČR has been a full member of the European Union of National Associations of Water Suppliers and Providers of Sewage and Wastewater Treatment (EurEau), which has representatives on its Board of Directors and committees. At the same time, SOVAK ČR has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic since 2017 and a full member of the Confederation of Employee and Business Associations of the Czech Republic (CEBR) since 2023, through which the association directly participates and is represented in the expert working teams of the Council of Economic and Social Agreement of the Czech Republic (Tripartite). Since December 2024, on the basis of a resolution of the Government of the Czech Republic, it has been a full member of the Committee for Coordination of Regulation of the Water Supply and Sewerage Sector, where it also represents the Water Management Association of the Czech Republic (SVH ČR) and the Czech Water Association (CzWA) on the basis of a signed memorandum.
